Just kidding! Even as a Sea Isle guy, I can admit, I love Avalon. It's a low-tourist, high-class beach town at the Jersey Shore.
Avalon continues to impress visitors with her beauty. And it's no wonder, from the picturesque houses lining both sides of the flower-filled median of Dune Drive, to the bustling downtown filled with legendary restaurants, family activities, and preppy boutiques.
Actually, some of our family has made the switch to Avalon and I do not blame them. The former sleepy old-shore town has really transformed over the decades. Throughout my college summers, I was lucky enough to be a glorified ‘pool boy.' I would drive to and from Townsends Inlet to work on the Avalon/Stone Harbor border, across from Macks Pizza. These were some of the best days of my life.
I still hold a special place for the Island. These days it's for the parties with my family, at my cousin's house along the back bay. My wife and I enjoy heading over the landmark TI Bridge to grab a drink at any one of Avalon's locally famous bars and restaurants... Whitebrier, Rock N Chair, Windrift, The Princeton... when we can sneak away.
As always, enjoy the view. We hope this brings a bit of the beach home for you.
