Our Story
IN THE SUMMER OF 2018, LOWTIDES OCEAN PRODUCTS FOUNDER, BRENTON HUTCHINSON WAS SPENDING A WEEKEND ALONG THE WATER'S EDGE DOWN AT THE JERSEY SHORE. SEA ISLE CITY HAS LONG BEEN HIS FAMILIES' RETREAT DURING THE SWELTERING NEW JERSEY SUMMERS.
While enjoying the simple pleasures of the beach, he picked up National Geographic and began to read an unsettling article about the vast amounts of ocean plastic around the world. The now infamous plastic bag, captured as an iceberg, revealed the detrimental effects plastic is having on our oceans resonated with Brenton.
In order to ensure future generations could enjoy his Jersey Shore and our Oceans, the need to address the problem became apparent.
Looking out at the tide, then around at the families enjoying their time on the beach, he began to think about common threads.
WHAT DO ALL THESE SHOOBIES (GOOGLE IT), WEEKEND WARRIORS AND LOCALS HAVE IN COMMON?
Everyone fills the beach each summer, huddling for a spot closest to the water. It became clear, introduce something for his fellow beach go-ers that helps save the one thing they all have in common, a mutual love for the Ocean.
And so, the journey began. Engineering products using up-cycled ocean plastic, LowTides Ocean Products began that very next week. Look Good with a purpose. Cool, stylish, not your parents' beach chair, its a new look for the new generation.
