LowTides Ocean Products Launches Sustainable Beach Gear Collaboration with Award-winning Artist Molly Hatch
As Part of LowTides’ New Artist Series, this Collection Features Beach Chairs & Apparel Made with Recycled Ocean Plastics & Designs Inspired by the Jersey Shore & Cape Cod
PHILADELPHIA, PA (June 22nd, 2021)- In celebration of the official beginning of Summer 2021, LowTides Ocean Products has announced the expansion of the Molly Hatch Artist Series, a design collaboration with the award-winning artist. As a family-owned, New Jersey-based company, LowTides aims to offer sustainable alternatives for beachgoers, with stylish beach chairs built from upcycled ocean plastics and beach gear made from post-consumer plastic water bottles.
“When I saw what LowTides was doing for the environment last year, I was personally inspired by the brand,” said artist Molly Hatch. “I love the idea of a beach chair that reduces ocean plastics, decreasing waste while creating quality products in a sustainable and ethical way.”
Known for partnerships with major retailers such as Anthropologie, Target, Nordstrom, Macy's and Garnett Hill, Molly has created a “Whale Wave” pattern exclusive to LowTides featuring her signature pen-and-ink whale design. Based in Massachusetts, Molly’s love for Cape Cod beaches and all things seaworthy serve as her inspiration, as she plans to make her Molly Hatch brand plastic neutral before the end of 2021. The Molly Hatch x LowTides Artist Series celebrates a collaboration of sustainability efforts, as well as Jersey Shore and Cape Cod-style, in an effort to preserve the beauty of the beaches that locals know and love.
"Molly's focus on sustainability directly aligns with our mission, and we are honored to partner with her for our new Artist Series,” said Brenton Hutchinson, Founder & CEO of LowTides Ocean Products. “In addition, she is known for her nautical pen and ink drawings, and her style and creative direction are a perfect fit for LowTides.”
LowTides beach chairs are available in Adult and Child styles with modern features like backpack straps, cup holders and standing phone slots. Each chair is built with upcycled ocean-bound plastic collected from key ‘at-risk zones’ on Java (Indonesia), the Yucatan Peninsula (Mexico), and Haiti. The company works directly with qualified partners at the source to ensure 100% traceability. Additionally, LowTides offers a line of Eco-UPF Apparel that is made of 100% REPREVE® recycled fiber and boasts 50+ UPF sun protection. Made with comfort in mind, each shirt uses 16 plastic water bottles recycled into each soft shirt. The built-in fabric technology ensures it will be your ultimate summer shirt with moisture-wicking and anti-microbial properties. Their High-performance Eco-Beach Towel is made with 24 recycled plastic water bottles. Spun from recycled PET yarn, the soft waffle texture holds twice its weight of water and can dry in half the time of standard towels.
LowTides Ocean Products sustainable beach gear is now available on the LowTides website, and at several participating retail stores in Southern New Jersey, Rhode Island, Long Island, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
